A hurricane evacuation zone is a geographic area that has been identified to protect public safety based on the potential for storm surge. Storm surge is historically the most deadly of all hurricane hazards. If a hurricane evacuation occurs, it will be ordered by Zone (A, B, C,D) as shown on these color-coded maps.
Residents of all ages with special needs, those without transportation and the elderly, require extra attention and preparation in order to stay protected in emergencies. Putnam County County government has education programs in place to help these citizens prepare and find safe shelter, however the responsibility for storm preparation rests with individuals and their families or caregivers. That planning needs to happen early.

Once submitted and approved for review, an invoice will be sent to the facility.
When payment has been received, the CEMP review will be performed, and an approval or denial letter will be sent. In the event of a denial, highlighted areas will need to be corrected, and the CEMP will need to be resubmitted.
All CEMP reviews have a minimum 90-day lead time.
CEMPs that do not meet formatting requirements will not be invoiced or reviewed.

In the spring of 1998, the Florida Department of Community Affairs (DCA) initiated a program to assist local governments in developing plans to reduce or eliminate risks to people and property from natural and man-made hazards. This program is known as the Local Mitigation Strategy or the LMS.
